AIS Extends Collaboration with AMATA to use 5G to Elevate AMATA City Chonburi into a Smart City Attracting Global Investors to the EEC, Stimulating the Thai Economy
24 July, 2020: AIS, Thailand and the region’s leading 5G network provider, and AMATA Corporation Plc.¸ Asia’s leading industrial estate developer, have expanded their collaboration on the development of Smart Cities, introducing critical digital infrastructure such as AIS 5G and fiber optic networking to accommodate solutions and digital innovations in the cities while also elevating management and production of AMATA City Chonburi, a future Smart City supporting economic, production and investment growth in accordance with the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) plan under the Thailand 4.0 policy. The intensified cooperation follows both companies signing into creation the joint venture “AMATA Network Co. Ltd.” for the purpose of introducing integral digital infrastructure to AMATA City Chonburi in December of 2016.

Today, with 5G ready to become ‘The Real New Normal’ and a highly effective technology in terms of speed, stability and ability to accommodate a large number of devices, AIS, as a regional leader in 5G and the first in ASEAN to 100% cover the EEC with a 5G network, is expanding its collaboration with AMATA Corporation to create a true Smart City, one with 5G technologies from 5G Stand Alone (5G SA) and 5G Network Slicing to a fiber optic network and ICT Infrastructure. These will enhance AMATA City Chonburi, home to over 750 factories, and extend the production capacity of Thailand’s industrial sector to match world standards. We are also developing solutions for erecting Smart Cities extending from resource management and logistics to safety for surrounding communities”.
