AIS Joins Forces with Government Savings Bank Expanding its Green Alliance and Sustainable E-Waste Disposal

25 August, 2020: AIS is moving forward with its environmental mission, expanding on its “Thailand Without E-Waste” project by joining forces with partners in the public, private and education sectors to take on and properly dispose of electronic waste. Most recently, AIS initiated cooperation with Government Savings Bank (GSB) to promote awareness and understanding on proper E-waste disposal, inviting all Thais to separate out their E-waste and drop them off at over 1,800 receptacles nationwide.

Mr. Somchai Lertsutiwong, CEO of AIS, explained “Thailand Without E-Waste” is another project AIS created with the intention of environmental conservation and rehabilitation in accordance with its sustainable development concept and intention to see growth in all sectors. The company’s cooperation with GSB is an extension of the “Green Pahonyothin” alliance initiated during the middle of this year for alliance staff, their families and the general public to better understand and be aware of the dangers of E-waste and to dispose of such waste at the GSB Head Office on Pahonyothin Road.

“Thailand Without E-Waste” focuses on five types of E-waste in particular, mobile phones/tablets, mobile phone batteries, power banks, charger cords and earphones. All E-waste entered into the program are collected and disposed of using a Zero Landfilled process. “Thailand Without E-Waste” currently has bins placed across the nation, including at the GSB Head Office, AIS Shops, Thai Post offices, Central Group department stores and various buildings and condominiums, totaling 1,800 locations.
