AIS Joins Thailand Post for Revolutionary Campaign! Send Off E-Waste by Post! Convenient Environmentalism Starting this February

15 February, 2021: Electronic Waste (E-Waste) is a major issue being promoted to greater awareness in Thailand, especially in terms of proper disposal and termination as such waste is non-biodegradable and can leak toxins into the environment that pose a danger to humans.

While many organizations have setup E-Waste receptacles, access to such bins is not widespread enough.  The new wave of COVID-19 infection, which has forced people to stay home, has further exacerbated the situation.  Thailand Post has however been able to keep its delivery services active throughout the crisis, leading to the idea of having E-Waste sent off for proper disposal by postmen.  The novel approach is an expansion of cooperation between AIS and Thailand Post, which previously collaborated to place E-Waste bins at Thailand Post offices nationwide under the Thais Say No to E-Waste program.

Mrs. Saichon Submakudom, Head of Public Relations for Advanced Info Service Plc. (AIS), remarked "I believe most people are aware of the issue of E-Waste but the pain point of finding a convenient disposal location remains.  Picking up E-Waste directly from homes for management by AIS ensures that the waste will be properly terminated or recycled in accordance with international standards including the Zero Landfill approach and provides a very convenient solution to this problem.  We thank Thailand Post for prioritizing environmentalism with AIS and facilitating this effort through its over 20,000 postal workers nationwide.  People can from today, conveniently sendoff E-Waste at no cost through their postal worker"

Sending off E-Waste by post can be done in 2 easy steps:

  1. Prepare any of the 5 types of E-Waste, Mobile phones/tablets, charging cords, headphones, power banks and mobile phone batteries, by placing them in a box marked "E-Waste disposal".
  2. Hand off the box to the postal worker delivering mail or parcels at no cost.

The program kicks off 15 February during the month of love with AIS and Thailand Post inviting all to show their love for the Earth through the "Thais Say No to E-Waste" campaign by sharing their participation to Facebook: AIS Sustainability.  A video on sending off E-Waste through the post can be viewed at https://youtu.be/0xa61D4NXvA
