AIS Joins Forces with Chulalongkorn University's Highland Development Volunteer Camp Club to Empower Youth Through Creative Social Impact Initiatives

AIS, in collaboration with the Highland Development Volunteer Camp Club of Chulalongkorn University, is empowering the next generation to create meaningful social impact through the volunteer camp "Kiang Doi, Koi Fon Klao @ Mae Mong Yao." Guided by the principle of Creating Shared Value (CSV), the initiative delivers a series of "Build – Teach – Empower" activities that further expand the impact of the "Green Energy Green Network for THAIs" project—a collaboration among AIS, Gulf, and the Highland Research and Development Institute (Public Organization).

Held at Ban Mae Mong Yao School in Wa Wi Subdistrict, Mae Suai District, Chiang Rai Province, the initiative harnesses the power of digital technology and clean energy to enhance educational opportunities in remote communities. A key highlight is the establishment of a Digital Library containing more than 500 books across a wide range of subjects, alongside activities that promote digital literacy, create new livelihood opportunities, and improve quality of life through the creativity and commitment of young volunteers.

Ms. Saichon Submakudom, Head of Public Relations and Business Relations at AIS, said:  "At AIS, we strongly believe in the potential of young people and are committed to providing opportunities for university students to demonstrate their capabilities through meaningful collaboration. This initiative with the Highland Development Volunteer Camp Club of Chulalongkorn University builds upon the achievements of the Green Energy Green Network for THAIs project at Ban Mae Mong Yao School, Wa Wi Subdistrict, Mae Suai District, Chiang Rai Province.

AIS is more than a sponsor—we are a co-creation partner. We encourage students to take the lead in designing and implementing social initiatives while supporting them with our robust digital capabilities, including notebook computers, the AIS ACADEMY Digital Library platform, and reliable communication networks. Together, we are helping restore educational connectivity and create new opportunities for learning and livelihoods in remote communities.

AIS is committed to ensuring that every corner of Thailand has access to digital infrastructure. We see ourselves not only as a provider of telecommunications and internet connectivity, but as a digital bridge that connects people, organizations, and sectors. By bringing together the public, private, and civil sectors, we create opportunities that improve access to education, information, and economic opportunities, ultimately enhancing the quality of life for people in underserved communities in a sustainable way."

The "Kiang Doi, Koi Fon Klao @ Mae Mong Yao" volunteer camp brought together AIS and more than 30 student volunteers from Chulalongkorn University's Highland Development Volunteer Camp Club for a week-long community engagement program at Ban Mae Mong Yao School, one of the project sites under the Green Energy Green Network for THAIs initiative.

The activities were organized under three key pillars:

  • Build – Renovate and improve school facilities to create a better learning environment, while establishing a Digital Library equipped with more than 500 digital books to expand students' access to knowledge.
  • Teach – Train teachers and students on how to use the Digital Library and share practical digital skills that enable them to thrive in today's digital economy, including e-commerce and online selling.
  • Empower – Strengthen opportunities and promote social inclusion by showcasing local livelihoods, cultural heritage, and eco-tourism attractions from upstream to downstream communities, helping generate sustainable income and improve long-term quality of life.
