AIS joins SCG and Prince of Songkla University in Creating a 5G Prototype for the Industrial Sector

AIS has joined hands with SCG and Prince of Songkla University to create the first successful 5G prototype for the industrial sector! The announcement follows a practical test using 5G to remotely control a vehicle over a large distance with the breakthrough to improve safety while reflecting AIS’s technological and innovation potential as well as its readiness to move Thailand into the 5G and 4.0 eras.

The collaboration between AIS, SCG and Prince of Songkla University proved a crucial step in testing 5G for Thailand’s industrial sector. The three conceptualized and developed solutions for manufacturing using 5G and subjected them to practical tests on the 2.6 Ghz band. A use case for expansion towards real world application in the future was the long distance remote control of a forklift that took place between Bangkok and Saraburi, the first of its kind in Thailand. The successful demonstration affirmed that 5G technology will play a major role in driving the Thai business sector forward and set the stage for an ecosystem populated by state agencies, private organizations and educational institutions, all working together to develop 5G innovations with the potential to compete on the world stage and elevate the quality of life for all Thai people.
