AIS Continues 5G Against COVID-19 Mission, Supporting Southern Field Hospitals with Communication Systems, Partnering with PSU on ADA Robots

8 May, 2020: Mr. Wasit Wattanasup, Head of Operations and National Technical Support for AIS, stated “Public health preparations remain crucial despite new infections of COVID-19 receding in Thailand. Close control is still needed to avoid a second wave, especially in the southern region as well as for those still receiving care. AIS, under its AIS 5G against COVID-19 mission, will continue to devote technological assistance and its high-speed internet as well as digital solutions in support of field hospital doctors and nurses in the south so that they may operate effectively”. AIS support comprises the following:

  • Working with the Research and Digital Innovation Office of Prince of Songkla University to enhance ADA Robots used to deliver meals, pharmaceuticals and to facilitate communication between doctors and patients via video call, adding temperature detecting cameras to extend their diagnostic capability.
  • Providing with communication equipment and installing high-speed internet networks and signal amplifiers to triple capabilities within the new Provincial Hall of Phuket, the southern region’s first field hospital.
  • Providing various communication devices to medical staff caring for COVID-19 patients.
